You can seamlessly start your survey project in the Virtual Surveyor app after using the Open in Virtual Surveyor button in the Terrain Creator app. At this point, you might be wondering where your photogrammetry data files are. Your photogrammetry files are stored in the same location as your project files. We'll show how to access the individual files, explain what they are, and some additional ways you can use them.

Overview

Access Your Photogrammetry Data Files

You can use Ctrl+E to access the .ei and .ii data files from the project folders of both the Virtual Surveyor and Terrain Creator apps.

Use Ctrl+E to open the file location of .ei and .ii files (DSM and Orthomosaic files respectively)

What are the .ei and .ii files?

The .ei and .ii files are geotiff files that are specifically created for optimal use within the Virtual Surveyor app.

Load Data Files in the Virtual Surveyor App

Whatever the reason, if you would like to separately create a new Virtual Surveyor project or add a new Terrain State to an open project and compare datasets over time, you can use the drag-and-drop feature (or click the choose files button) to load the .ei and .ii files directly into the Virtual Surveyor app. This same feature also applies to DSM and Orthomosaic files if you want to bring drone datasets into Virtual Surveyor from other photogrammetry sources.
